Jahmiah is the founder of Sport Dispute Management. She is a lawyer, adjudicator and risk manager.
Jahmiah has over 15 years of experience as a litigator. Prior to opening Sport Dispute Management, she was a partner at one of Canada’s largest firms focusing on sport litigation, professional liability complaints, disciplinary actions, complex multi-party cross jurisdictional commercial litigation and arbitration.
In the sport space, Jahmiah has co-managed one of the country‘s largest independent third party safe sport programs since its inception. She has administered maltreatment complaints in every Canadian province and territory. She has conducted and participated in hundreds of mediations and has provided reasoned and comprehensive adjudication and investigation services.
She works in both French and English.
From a personal side, Jahmiah is passionate about and has been involved in sport her whole life.
Dawn is a lawyer, investigator and sport disputes case manager.
Prior to forming her own practice, she gained significant litigation experience including at a busy boutique litigation firm and at a large international law firm in Ottawa. Dawn’s litigation career has included representing clients in professional liability claims, professional disciplinary matters, commercial disputes, personal injury claims and insurance defence, before judicial and quasi-judicial bodies.
Carly is a law student.
Carly is a Common Law student at the University of Ottawa, distinguished by her expertise in intersectional legal analysis. Building on a solid academic foundation with both undergraduate and graduate degrees in Religious Studies from Queen’s University, Carly brings a unique and nuanced perspective to the legal field. Her passion for fostering inclusivity extends into the sports sector, where she excels in creating welcoming environments and ensuring effective operations through adherence to thoughtful processes and data-driven analyses.
Toby is a case administrator.
Toby has decades of experience in full service national law firms focusing primarily on litigation support. She offers thoughtful and careful assistance to those navigating disputes. Toby dedicates much of her time to ensuring that people are heard and that their information and concerns are properly before the adjudicators, mediators and investigators addressing the complaints.
Christina is an administrator and case manager.
Christina has a strong background in litigation support services. She brings a unique blend of legal expertise and empathetic client advocacy to the field. Adept at managing complex caseloads, Christina strives to make a positive impact within the safe sport space by improving operational efficiency, ensuring the efficient resolution of cases and enhancing the client experience.
Krista is a lawyer, case manager and safe sport advocate.
Krista began her career in litigation at the Howard Mackie firm in Calgary, Alberta where she practiced for 5 years before turning to children’s rights law. Retired from active practice, Krista continued her advocacy work for her own 4 children and countless other elite athletes in multiple competitive sports with roles ranging from team chaperone and manager, appeal panel member and grant coordinator to safesport policy writer over the past 20+ years. Now focusing on case management and mediation, Krista is passionate about making a positive impact in the sports world.
